If you like me, I love you. If you admire me, I worship you. I am the light which drives back the darkness. I am the Justice that binds and gives form to angry, many-armed Chaos. I am gray-eyed Athene with the black aegis glasses. And I love you all better than chocolate.

I am the Blakwidow: men fear me, women love me or is that the other way around? I pick the pockets of your heart's desire. I am the rosetta stone of your sanguine nightmares, the demon spider queen with four minions and ten thousand eyes . . . the earth mother who drinks the life from her dying god.

No, I don't love you. No, I don't want your friendship, your adoration, your hatred, your understanding. I return pain for kindness. I exist in a Garden of glass razor blades where falsehood is the only beauty and the only truth. The wrestling ring is a morality play where I measure my victories not as humans do, but in quarts of blood and in the still beating of mortal hearts. I ask you, answer me now, little ones: Rogavit cur servi regum libertatem alienam auferrent?
