Blakwidow: My First Year as a Pro Wrestler

Read Chapter One of Blakwidow at Amazon.com.

This is a story about beginnings. Read about how a mild-mannered girl from California quit her job writing software manuals, packed all of her worldly possessions and squalling cat into a broken down rental truck and drove 3600 miles to pursue her professional wrestler dreams at Killer Kowalski's school in Boston.
Read about Amanda's early trials at Killer's school and in the ring, her first time getting hit over the head with a chair, her thoughts about being in Penthouse, getting on MTV by going up and asking them if they were "cable access", meeting King Kong Bundy and many other adventures. A must read if you are thinking about getting into pro wrestling or just want to know what it is like behind the scenes from a woman who spends her weekends in the rasslin' trenches.

Going for your dreams "You have a lot of time to just sit and think towards the end, a lot of time to dwell on the good times, the bad, and what might have been. I call it the Rocking Chair Test. If you have more good times than bad and more happiness than regrets, then you pass. If not, well, there is no second try."
Amanda as "Miss America" "I pranced down the runway waving my American flag, basking in the utter contempt and hatred of the fans. It was Quebec vs. America, so little Amanda Storm was the focus of everything that Canadians hate about the good old U S of A. I was Darth Vader with long hair, the Blakwidow cowgirl wearing the black hat. That badass rasslin' beauty in the blue bathing suit."
On not having a character "I didn't really set out to create a persona for the ring. Heck, except for my boots my costumes are basically just workout gear or bathing suits. And how I act is more Amanda the person cutting loose and just acting crazy and uninhibited, whether as a face or heel, than it is me portraying some character. One of the beautful things about wrestling is that I have license to act absolutely crazy and I love it!"

Let me know what you thought about my book if you have already read it. Amanda Storm and her little banana spider minions would love to know!

I was amazed to read such an awesome account of a debut year in a wrestling career. The stories from the road - your cat and the box springs as well as dealing with trouble of other motorists are all hilarious and enlightening. As a fan in a country far removed from the wrestling scene - it was cool to get an inside view of what happens backstage and to get candid interviews with stars like King Kong Bundy and Rick Martel.    -- John E. Your book is really cool and you rock! I feel like you have taken me by the hand for a walk into the world of professional wrestling.    -- Phillip
You have put together one well written book, I enjoyed every bit of it. You know how a book will have a flow to it and speaks to the reader as they go along, well your book has that flow. One thing about your book is that a non-wrestling fan would enjoy it, it's that good, and it is about more than wrestling, it's about chasing one's dreams, all the effort and trials you go through in the chase, and the exhilaration and triumph you feel when you begin to reach that dream.    -- Bob I figured your book would give me some of the insight needed, and it did. It was the pep-rally I needed to get me to make the first step.... Your book is great, I love your work as a heel, and I wish for only the best for you (hopefully Vince will be calling soon!)    -- T.M.
"What is pretty good about the book is the writing. An English major in college, Storm turns a good phrase and seems to have really given some thought to what makes her, and others, want to be wrestlers."   -- Greg Oliver, Slam! Wrestling
